Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

VesselScore is a vessel due diligence platform. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We keep things straightforward — we collect only what we need to run the service.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, company name, and company website. Your password is stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it.

Vessel lookups. We store a record of the IMO numbers you have searched and the reports generated for your account. This allows us to display your search history and cache results between sessions.

Usage data. Google Analytics collects anonymised data about how you navigate the site — pages visited, session duration, and browser/device type. This is aggregated and not linked to your individual account.

Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are handled directly by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or full payment credentials — only the subscription status and plan information returned by Stripe.

2. How we use it

To provide the service. Your account details are used to authenticate you, maintain your session, and associate your vessel lookups and reports with your account.

To improve the platform. Aggregated usage analytics help us understand which features are most useful and where the experience can be improved.

For billing. Subscription and plan data are used to gate access to paid features and to process recurring payments through Stripe.

We do not sell your personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it for targeted advertising.

3. Cookies

Analytics cookies. Google Analytics (G-89971WMGJ5) sets cookies to measure site usage. These cookies collect anonymised data such as page views and session counts. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google through these cookies.

Authentication. We store your JWT access and refresh tokens in browser local storage to keep you logged in between sessions. These are not cookies but serve a similar purpose.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party cookies for remarketing or behavioural profiling.

4. Third parties

Stripe. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. When you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment details are submitted directly to Stripe under their privacy policy. We receive only a customer ID and subscription status in return.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic. Data is processed by Google under their privacy policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Vercel. The platform is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process request metadata (IP addresses, user agents) as part of serving the application. See their privacy policy for details.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data and vessel report history for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or billing purposes (for example, records of completed transactions).

Analytics data collected by Google Analytics is retained according to Google's standard retention policies (typically 26 months).

6. Your rights (GDPR)

As a data controller based in France, we process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the following rights:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@vesselscore.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés), the French data protection authority.
